'Do your schoolwork' hospital prankster told

A video of a boy riding a bed trolley across a coronavirus ward in South Africa has amused many on social media but also attracted criticism from health officials.

According to Eastern Cape Health Department spokesman Sizwe Kupelo, the boy in the video is among 204 to have tested positive at Makaula Senior Secondary School in KwaBhaca.

IOL quotes Mr Kupelo as saying the student appears energetic and in high spirits "meaning he will easily beat Covid-19, [but] the video is condemned in the strongest words possible".

"We regard his actions as a sign of ill-discipline and boredom. The pupil should rather use the 14 days in isolation to revise what he has learnt in school this year," Mr Kupelo adds.
