HIV Still A Challenge for Botswana’s Youth - First Lady Masisi

The first lady of Botswana has called on youth to stay away from sexual relationships, as they can come with many challenges that young people aren’t ready to deal with, including sexual transmitted diseases and pregnancy.

At present 49% of new infections affect people between the ages of 15-24.

The first lady also encouraged young girls to stay away from older men, telling them that older men will ‘shutter’ their dreams and that instead they should be kind to themselves and focus on education.

As a UN AIDS Special Ambassador for the Empowerment and Engagement of young people, Ms Masisi informed them that she loved and cared about them, hence embarking on a road show to help young people make wise decisions.

"A decision made today may impact on your future."
