Namibians protest against gender-based violence

Demonstrators have taken to the streets of Namibia's capital, Windhoek, to protest against gender-based violence after the body of a woman was discovered in a shallow grave in the second city, Walvis Bay.

The New Era newspaper has tweeted a video of hundreds of people marching.

The body of Shannon Wasserfall, who went missing six months ago, was discovered after police were tipped off by an anonymous text message.

Ms Wasserfall had dropped off her son at a friend's house before heading out to meet someone.

The Namibian newspaper reports that people have been urged to wear black today, Thursday, and Friday, to show solidarity with victims of gender-based violence.
