Zimbabwean woman negative for coronavirus
A Zimbabwe woman who was suspected of having coronavirus has been given the all clear by doctors after returning to the country from China.
The 27-year-old had been working as a teacher in the Chinese city of Wuhan, the epicentre of the virus. She then travelled to Guangzhou on holiday before falling ill and displaying coronavirus-like symptoms.
Doctors in China tested her and gave her a certificate showing her results were negative.
However, upon arrival in Zimbabwe on Tuesday, health officials reported that she had a fever. She was subsequently taken to an isolation unit in Harare’s Wilkins Hospital for further testing.
Zimbabwe’s permanent secretary for information, Nick Mangwana, says the tests were carried out at the nearby Sally Mugabe Central Hospital.
By Wednesday night the patient had a normal temperature.
