Namibia To Establish National Youth Service
The Namibian government is looking at establishing a compulsory national youth service to try and address socio-economic and security concerns in the country.
The Minister of Sport, Youth and National Service mentioned these plans last week; "It is worthwhile to mention that National Youth Service (NYS) submitted a blue paper to its line ministry and other stakeholders for further consultations to establish a compulsory national youth service," he said.
The Minister outlined that national youth service would support discipline, loyalty, patriotism and help address unemployment.
He re-affirmed the government’s commitment to youth development and noted that they would continue to make resources available to institutions like the National Youth Training Centre.
