Ramaphosa Travels to Japan for RWC Final
South African president Cyril Ramaphosa has flown to Yokohama in Japan ahead of the Springbok’s clash with England in the Rugby World Cup final.
Speaking as he boarded the plane, the president said he was excited, and was going to meet the team out in Japan.
“I am looking forward to going to see them [the Springboks] in their camp, and give them a lot of encouragement and vuma, from 57 million South Africans standing behind them and wishing them the very best in their titanic battle with the English.
“And I am hoping that we will be able to defeat and annihilate the English and bring the cup home. South Africa’s moment has arrived, and South Africans must be patriotic and stand firmly behind the team, which is what I’m going to do now”.
Mr Ramaphosa had previously tweeted a video of him speaking to the Springbok captain, Siya Kolisi, over FaceTime, wishing him and his team the best of luck for the semi-final match against Wales, which they went on to win 19-16.
He has been taunting British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, sending him a cheeky tweet after their victory against Wales, saying “see you on Saturday BoJo when you will be watching Siya, the team and I hoist high [the] Webb Ellis Cup”.
The last time England and South Africa met in the World Cup final was in 2007, when the Springboks came out on top 15-6.
