Zambian footballer stuck in India over coronavirus

Zambian footballer Aaron Katebe says he is unable to return home from India due to a lockdown imposed in the country because of the coronavirus.

The Real Kashmir defender is staying in the hotel of the club’s owner, Sandeep Chattoo. He told reporters that he feels emotional when speaking to loved ones over the phone.

Mr Chatoo told reporters that he would do everything to make his players feel safe and comfortable, but that he could not help them get home.

“There’s nothing I can do unless their respective embassies come forward to help out”, he said.

From 24th March India issued a strict stay-at-home order to its population of over one billion people in a bid to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The government has also grounded all domestic and international flights.
