DRC Medics Arrested Over WHO Doctor Death
Three medics in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have been arrested following the death of a World Health Organisation (WHO) doctor.
The victim, Richard Mouzoko from Cameroon, was shot in April at a facility in Butembo.
The medics arrested in connection with his death were allegedly involved in planning a militia-led raid on the hospital during which Mouzoko was fatally wounded.
Those arrested are expected to be charged with terrorism and criminal conspiracy.
The outbreak in DRC has been raging fro over a year, resulting in more than 1,800 fatalities. Efforts to contain and combat the spread have been seriously undermined by the activities of militia in the affected regions, with around 200 health facilities attacked this year so far.
