Lesotho PM asked to step down
Lesotho’s Prime Minister, Thomas Thabane, has been asked to step down following allegations he was involved in the murder of his estranged wife, two years ago.
The accusations first came to light earlier this week, after the country’s police commissioner, Holomo Molibelo, raised them in court documents.
Mr Thabane has not responded to any of the allegations made against him.
The Prime Minister then suspended Mr Molibelo, in a move described by the deputy leader of Mr Thabane’s ruling ABC party, Nqosa Mahao, as “an attempt to defeat the ends of justice”.
Mr Thabane’s wife, Lipolelo Thabane, was shot dead whilst on her way her home with a friend days before her husband was due to be sworn in as Prime Minister.
