AFCON 2019: Ivory Coast and Senegal Qualify For Next Round
Monday’s matches at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) saw Ivory Coast and Senegal join the teams to qualify for the next stage of the tournament, which will see 16 teams go head-to-head in knockout matches.
Ivory Coast beat Namibia 4-1, while Senegal defeated Kenya 3-0.
Ivory Coast and Senegal join Egypt, Uganda, Nigeria, Madagascar, Algeria, Morocco, Mali and Cameroon, with six more teams set to join their ranks by the end of Tuesday.
Today sees Groups E and F returning to the field. Benin is scheduled to take on Cameroon, while Guinea-Bissau faces Ghana. Finishing up the round will be Angola versus Mali, and Mauritania versus Tunisia.
The knockout stage is scheduled to begin Friday July 5, running until the following Monday.
