AFCON 2019, Group Stages Draw To A Close
The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) continues in Egypt with the final round of group matches wrapping up on Tuesday.
Following the weekend’s action Egypt, Uganda, Nigeria, Madagascar, Algeria, Morocco, Mali and Cameroon are among the teams to have secured their qualification for the next round, which will see 16 teams go head-to-head in knockout matches.
Monday’s fixtures will determine which teams in Group C and Group D qualify by finishing second in their group. In Group C Senegal will take on Kenya, while Tanzania faces Algeria. The Algerian team has already secured its place in the next round having defeated both Senegal and Kenya.
In Group D Morocco will take on South Africa and Ivory Coast face Namibia. With Morocco already through South Africa and Ivory Coast will be battling for second place as both teams have three points.
Tuesday will see the end to the group stages with Groups E and F returning to the field. Benin is scheduled to take on Cameroon, while Guinea-Bissau faces Ghana. Finishing up the round will be Angola versus Mali, and Mauritania versus Tunisia.
The knockout stage is scheduled to begin Friday July 5, running until the following Monday.
