AFCON 2019, Weekend Line-Up
Football fans will be able to enjoy seven fixtures in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament this weekend.
Saturday’s action will kick off with Mauritania versus Angola. The Mauritanian side desperately need a win after losing 4-1 to Mali in their opening fixture. Meanwhile, the Angolan team sit on one point, having drawn with Tunisia.
Next up Cameroon face Ghana. Cameroon beat Guinea-Bissau 2-0 to secure three points on Tuesday of this week, while Ghana sits on one point having drawn with Benin.
Bringing Saturday’s action to a close Benin will face Guinea-Bissau.
On Sunday the teams move on to their third match of the tournament, which will decide the remaining teams to qualify for the knockout stage.
Burundi will take on Guinea, while Madagascar face Nigeria. The Nigerian team have already secured their spot in the next round, winning their matches against Guinea and Burundi.
Uganda versus Egypt and Zimbabwe versus DR Congo will wrap up the weekend’s action. Egypt qualified for the knockouts on Wednesday when they beat DR Congo 2-0, having already defeated Zimbabwe 1-0 in the tournament opener.
