Kriel and de Jager Set To Leave Bulls

The Blue Bulls are set to lose two more Springboks– Jesse Kriel and Lood de Jager. This takes the number of Boks leaving the union to three.

De Jager will be joining Sale Sharks in England where he will be alongside Faf de Klerk and Jean-Luc du Preez, whilst Kriel I heading to Japan to play for the Canon Eagles.

Alfons Meyer – the Union Chief Executive had this to say;

“There can be no doubt that both were very popular amongst our fans, not only because of their personalities, but also because of their passion for the Vodacom Bulls and their styles of play.

“Neither ever stopped trying to give 110% and both became Springboks that have graced the green and gold with much aplomb. We are sad to see them leave, but we cannot fault their contributions and commitments while they were here.

“We wish them well in their careers.”

Kriel has made 75 appearances for the Bulls across Super Rugby and the Currie Cup – earning 40 Boks caps, one more than De Jager, who has played 20 times in blue since joining from the Cheetahs in 2014.
