Nigeria Secures Third Place At AFCON 2019

The Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, have secured third place in the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament after defeating Tunisia 1-0 in Egypt on Wednesday.

While the Tunisian side enjoyed the majority of possession during the game Nigeria’s Odion Ighalo scored the only goal of the match in third minute. With five goals under his belt Ighalo is the tournament’s top scorer as it stands.

Nigeria has previously won the tournament on three occasions as compared with Tunisia’s one victory in 2004.

The final is scheduled to take place tomorrow, Friday, and will see Algeria and Senegal go head-to-head for the title.
