FIFA Official Receives Life Ban
Fifa has banned former general secretary of the Botswana Football Association Mooketsi Kgotlele for life.
Having launched a probe into Kgotlele’s conduct in September 2018 the judges of Fifa’s independent ethics body reported finding him "guilty of having accepted bribes in relation to the manipulation of international matches". However, no details regarding the specific matches concerned were revealed.
According to the world soccer body Kgotlele has been linked to known match-fixer Wilson Raj Perumal. Perumal was sentenced to two years in prison for bribery in 2011.
The ban applies to all football-related activities at both the national and international level.
Kgotlele also faces a fine of around US$50,000.
